Making – William Morris and the Arts and Crafts Movement

Lecture by Prof. Jeff Jones.

I really like the topic that Prof. Jeff Jones delivered today. I’ve been interested in the Art and Craft movements and studied William Morris’ work when I was in college. I found the art and craft movement to be very community orientated. I believe that artist – world – community work better together. The world shapes the artist’s perspective. The outcome must be useful for the world, artist and community because it is impossible to disassociate art from morality, politics and religion. It’s a shame that in modern days the ‘cooperative’ art & craft movement become less popular because the mid class people made it independently which contradict the main idea of the art and craft movement.
